ABOUT LARS´S FILM & ART WORKSHOPS AND FILMFESTIVALS

In cooperation with various schools and government ministries in rural regions of Germany, Lars developed and led film and screen acting workshops as well as youth film festivals for children and teenagers.
Many of these workshops were funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, ran for a minimum of six months, and concluded with large public screenings attended by over 200 guests.
All workshops were tuition-free and open to young people aged 13–18, regardless of the school they attended.
The aim of these programs is to inspire and empower young people who would otherwise have little or no access to filmmaking or screen acting, and to help foster the next generation of storytellers.
In addition, Lars provides artistic education in fine arts at selected private schools.
Between 2023 and 2025, in collaboration with the ILE Brückenauer Rhönallianz and the District Office of Bad Kissingen, Lars initiated and curated a series of youth film festivals.
All teenagers under the age of 21 were eligible to submit a film and were able to participate in a free filmmaking workshop with Lars in advance. The festivals took place in local cinemas and awarded prize money and honors to outstanding works.

In 2015, Lars and Max Gärtner led a workshop titled FilMusik at St. Angela School for Girls in Königstein. The project received significant public attention and was awarded second place in the nationwide MixedUp workshop award, presented by the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth (BMFSFJ) in cooperation with the BKJ.
Under Lars’s supervision, the students produced a 45-minute documentary exploring the tensions between long-term residents and a newly established refugee center in their town. Despite its small size, Königstein has the highest concentration of millionaires in Germany. The students’ goal was to share the refugees’ personal stories, foster empathy, and help bridge the gap between the local community and the refugees.
As the school specializes in musical education, the students also composed and recorded the documentary’s score themselves in collaboration with musician Max Gärtner.
The film was publicly screened at the Badehaus in Bad Soden am Taunus and was funded by Kulturfonds Frankfurt RheinMain.
